Extrusion


The first processing stage is called extrusion.

During extrusion (to extrude = to force out) plastic granules are heated to over 200 °C, blended inside a cylinder (homogenized) using a screw conveyer, and, under high pressure, forced through a flat film extrusion die.
Three smoothing rolls give the film its shape, cooling it at the same time. After a further cooling section, the film is cut to meet the required width and rolled up. Our extrusion lines are provided with fully automatic thickness measuring facilities.
We process plastics such as PS, PP and, since very recently, PLA. (PLA is a plastic based on maize starch and is made of renewable primary products).

Each individual formula is applied using gravimetric dosing devices.
We process plastics to films with the thicknesses 0.2 – 3.0 mm and the width 180 mm – 1000 mm, core diameter 75 mm, 150 mm, 200 mm.
Our films are produced in single layer (mono film) or to individual specifications (anti-static coating, high gloss, etc.) with up to three layers.
The main colour is white, however, depending on our customers’ specifications, individually coloured or transparent films are all possible. The film is a semi-finished product and is finally given its ultimate shape by thermoforming (deep-drawing).
